Cathy Cassetta, 500-RYT, is the owner of My Yoga Place Palm Springs LLC, a business she created primarily to continue to make the lovely space created by Peace Love Yoga Palm Springs available to the many local and visiting yogis who loved practicing in that special place. July 1, 2023, that physical space became the home of another health and wellness studio, The Sukha Life. For in-person classes at that studio, please check their website: thesukhalife.com
Prior to creating My Yoga Place Palm Springs, Cathy founded The Tabard Theatre Company in downtown San Jose in 2001; she retired as executive artistic director from Tabard in June 2020. Building on her many years in the Hollywood television industry, Cathy created, produced, and co-hosted the weekly Northern California South Bay television program Theatre This Week in the mid-1990s. A theatre artist who has worked both on- and off-stage, she has taught dance as well as theatre and playwriting to every grade from junior kindergarten through college. A produced playwright, of her many works, she is especially proud of Tabard’s 2015 production of Homeward Bound: An Orphan Train Journey.
Her journey with yoga began as a result of a personal quest to regain balance, health, and peace after a series of family losses and career stress. Yoga offered a physical workout her dancer’s body yearned for with the introspective calm her soul embraced. With teaching yoga as a natural next step, she now has well over 1,000 hours in teacher training. Since practicing yoga, including aerial yoga, she has regained 1/2" of her height and strengthened her body.
Prior to settling in Palm Springs, Cathy taught yoga in San Jose, Los Gatos, Anchor Bay, The Sea Ranch and Palm Springs. A primary focus of her teaching is yoga for older bodies, including osteoporosis, scoliosis, and limited flexibility, mobility, strength, and balance. She has offered several workshops: Yoga and Creativity and The Art of Bone Health through Yoga. She approaches the bone health workshop with first-hand interest and application, having been diagnosed with osteoporosis in 2011. A professional theatre director, playwright, teacher, actor and former dancer, Cathy was drawn to yoga as a way to combat the condition of her bones. As a result of her yoga practice, in addition to stronger bones, muscles, and balance, she has regained some of the height she lost through improper bone alignment. She is excited to share with others what she’s learned as a yoga practitioner and teacher.
"I started training as a dancer when I was a toddler. That training continued for decades. I started teaching dance when I was in my teens. One thing led to another and I went from dancer to choreographer to actor, director, playwright, you name it. The key piece of info here is that I was someone accustomed to moving her body. I am excited to share with others what I've learned as a yoga practitioner and teacher."
Cathy is available for private group instruction.

Cathy Cassetta, Owner, My Yoga Place Palm Springs Here's what her students have to say about her classes:
"Cathy is an excellent Yoga instructor. She is careful to make sure everything is lined up correctly so we get the most benefit from the Defying Gravity Yoga Classes." Irene T. Defying Gravity: Yoga For Healthy Aging
"It is phenomenal the way Cathy is able to lead an individualized yoga class via zoom. She somehow manages to teach and direct us via the screen. I honestly don’t know how she does it but it is like she is right there with each of us." H.J. Yoga for Bone Health & Bone Density
"Cathy is encouraging, supportive, and I also love the way she understands that everyone’s body is different and will be able to do the different exercises to their own unique ability. She helps us to accept our limits but also to push us to be stronger each day." H.J. Chair Yoga: Take a Seat!
